Our limited-purpose landfill (LPL) features a composite high-density polyethylene (HDPE) liner over a geosynthetic clay liner and other protective layers to prevent contamination.
Environmental Management
How does DTG monitor potential landfill environmental impacts?
We prioritize environmental responsibility through:
- Leachate management: Our landfill features an industry standard liner system and a leachate collection system, directing waste liquids to an evaporation pond.
- Landfill gas monitoring: Quarterly testing at 15 onsite locations and at the property line demonstrating compliance with regulations.
- Groundwater protection: We maintain 9 monitoring wells to test and report groundwater conditions quarterly to state and county regulators.
- Stormwater control: Monthly testing and reporting to the Washington State Department of Ecology to maintain water quality compliance.
The site is operated in an environmentally responsible manner with strict reporting requirements as mandated by Yakima County Public Services, Yakima Health District, Washington State Department of Ecology, and Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency.
